Colorado Avalanche right wing Mikko Rantanen is already showing himself to being the real deal for the team.

Colorado Avalanche right wing Mikko Rantanen was one of the few bright spots on last season’s team. He led the Avs with 20 goals and was third on the team for scoring with 38 points. This as a rookie last season.

The Colorado Avalanche drafted Rantanen 10th overall in 2015. He had already been playing in the Finnish men’s league even as a teenager. He transitioned into pro right away.

Rantanen went through the whole rookie and training camp. He also started the season with the team, playing in six games. However, partially because of his unfamiliarity with the North American ice surface and partially to keep him ineligible for the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, the Avalanche only played Rantanen in nine games total that first year.

Well, Mikko Rantanen played a full season with the Avalanche last year, barring a few games missed because of injury. From his draft to the season’s last few games, Rantanen has been a treasure. He’s already an integral part of the team.
